2025-26 & 27 Crochet Easy Elegant Baby Blanket / One Row Repeat, and Baby Maude Hat

When my friends have babies and grandbabies, they get blankets! I’ve watched Robin’s kids grow up in the neighbourhood, so when her son and his wife had their first baby this year, of course I made a blanket and a hat. The yarn is the same I knit my cousin’s granddaughters blanket set with earlier this year, but in the colour sage. It’s a really lovely yarn to work with, knit or crochet.

I followed the pattern from a video on YouTube, the border turned out so lovely! It’s very elegant as the name suggests.

2025-19 Overlay Mosaic Crochet Baby Blanket

I was looking for a pattern to make an impressive wedding gift blanket, I bought the Hide and Seek blanket by Beba Blanket, but thought I’d try out a free tutorial first. I’m glad I did, while I love the way they look, it’s an awful lot of single crochet. I might come back to it one day because I LOVE the look of the Hide and Seek Blanket with a gradient yarn. I cannot remember where I found this specific Greek Key pattern, but there are a lot of them out there on YouTube. I did use the tips and tricks, as well as the envelope border from Beba Blanket on YouTube though, she has really great videos!

James asked for a baby gift for his friend whose son was born in August. I really liked the feel of this Caron Cotton Cake, it knit up really nicely, and feels very cozy. He won’t be seeing Merwin until February, so I hope they love it!

2025-12 & 13 Gifts for a New Baby in the Family

We have a new baby in the family! My cousins became grandparents to a beautiful baby girl named Maevan Jean on April 3rd, so of course I had to make something. I usually go with the standard baby blanket, but I fell in love with the knit Silver Fox Bonnet by Frogginette, then realized there was an adorable cardigan to match. I had ordered enough yarn to make a blanket anyway, so I decided to crochet a Classic Shell Stitch, the cardigan and bonnet only used 1 1/2 balls of the 6 that I ordered, so I had just enough.

I love the braid effect of the cable pattern on the button band and shoulders of the cardigan, it’s the same cable stitch found in the front panels, it’s just done continuously.

The yarn is Stylecraft Bambino DK from Wool Warehouse UK, it’s 100% acrylic, so easy care for new parents. The colour is Misty Mallow, which is in the purple family, it has a lovely vintage feel to it. It shows off the cables beautifully, and was very nice to work with. I have 6 balls of the Sage colourway as well, so it will pop up in a future project.

2025-3 to 7 Little Dove Crochet Inspired Blankets

One of the crochet designers I follow is Faye from Little Dove Crochet, last October she posted in her blog about making four baby blankets all from the same colour combination, I really liked that idea. I have so much stash yarn for baby blankets I thought I’d give it a go. So I pulled my own colour combination together and managed five blankets! I added in an extra colour in the last couple blankets because I ran out of the green. All of these will be donated to Craft for YEG who you can find on Facebook. They are a local Edmonton, AB group who collect donations of many different items for a variety of local charities.
